Race / Long Distance & GPS Formula — Official Alpine Snowkite Disciplines

1. Organizing Authority
Organizer
The Alto Sangro Snowkite Contest 2026 is organized by ASD Outdoor 360° in cooperation with local authorities and recognized class associations.
2. Rules
World Sailing RRS 2025–2028
The World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2025–2028 apply to the Race / Long Distance discipline.
Class Rules & NoR / SI
Applicable Class Rules apply. This Notice of Race (NoR) and Sailing Instructions (SI). In case of conflict between NoR and SI, the SI shall prevail.
National Federation
National Federation prescriptions where applicable.
GPS Formula Rules
GPS Formula Official Event Rules apply when the GPS discipline is activated.
3. Disciplines
🏁 Race / Long Distance
Alpine course competition
Competition conducted on alpine courses marked by buoys or natural terrain references. Formats may include Full Fleet, Divided Fleet, Long Distance and Medal Series.
📡 GPS Formula
Official Alpine Snowkite Discipline
Freeride alpine competition based on GPS tracking. Each task includes one Startgate and assigned Racetime of 15 / 30 / 60 minutes.
4. Format Decision Authority
The Race Committee decides daily which discipline will be conducted based on wind strength, terrain conditions, visibility and safety assessment. The decision is announced at briefing, posted on the Official Notice Board, and is final and not protestable.
Wind Strength
Daily assessment of wind strength.
Terrain Conditions
Analysis of alpine terrain conditions.
Visibility
Visibility check on the race course.
Safety Assessment
Final safety assessment by the Race Committee.
5. Race / Long Distance Rules
General Rules
Courses described in Sailing Instructions.
Scoring: Low Point System (RRS Appendix A)

Discipline valid with at least one completed race.

6. GPS Formula Rules

Discipline valid with at least one completed and validated GPS task.
Starting sequence
GPSFORMULA:
1) ATTENTION SIGNAL: Orange Flag - 5 Minutes to Start
2) WARNING SIGNAL: CKWI class display - 3 minutes
3) PREPARATORY SIGNAL: Uniform Flag Displayed - 2 minutes to Start
4) LAST MINUT: Uniform flag remouved - 1 Minute to start Start
5) START: Class Flag remouved - Starting window open for 10 minutes
6) START WINDOW CLOSING: Attention flag removed
After the time defined for the race, close Start and Finish display for the maximum delay permitted for the race (5 minutes fot 15 race, 10 minutes for the 30 minutes race, 20 minutes for the 60 minutes race

8. Mandatory Equipment

Equipment checks may be performed at any time.
9. Scoring & Titles
Two independent rankings and separate podiums:
🥇 Race / Long Distance Ranking
Independent ranking for the Race / Long Distance discipline.
🥇 GPS Formula Ranking
Independent ranking for the GPS Formula discipline.
The competition is valid for the assignment of the Italian Snowkite Title for both disciplines.
